The engine is docile and easy to control, so the bike shouldn't scare you if you don't twist the throttle hard. One possible downside is that it is quite heavy.

I was worried that it was too steep a move and take off in 1st would be sluggish and a lot of strain on engine and clutch. It is NOT. What a pleasant surprise.

RCACS has over 260,000 km (over 161,500 miles) on his. I think he just changed the cam chain tensioner. (My 2012 has about 113,000 km or over 70,000 miles.) ..Tom.
